PARIS: Guillaume Herbette, global vice chairman of operations at FleishmanHillard, will take over the dual role of MSLGroup CEO and EVP of Publicis Worldwide next Monday.
He will succeed Olivier Fleurot as MSLGroup’s chief executive. Fleurot is stepping into an SVP role at Publicis Groupe. Herbette will report to Publicis Worldwide president Arthur Sadoun, who is taking on direct supervision of MSLGroup.
Maurice Levy, chairman and CEO of Publicis Groupe, said in June that the goal of Sadoun’s appointment was not merging MSLGroup and Publicis Worldwide, but rather creating "a new integrated approach."
Herbette’s responsibilities as CEO of MSLGroup will include oversight of all of the agency’s entities, such as comms consultancies Kekst & Company, CNC, and JKL, as well as global events from Publicis Live, PBJS, and Publicis Events.
He will also work closely with Sadoun to further integrate work across Publicis Group firms, including Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, BBH, Starcom Mediavest Group, and ZenithOptimedia, according to a statement from the holding company.
The announcement of Herbette’s appointment comes two weeks after former MSLGroup North America president Paul Newman stepped down from his role. Global CFO Peter Miller has been handling Newman’s former responsibilities on an interim basis.
Global social media and digital lead Stephanie Agresta and Matt Dickman, SVP and global digital and social strategy director, also recently left MSLGroup.
Herbette, who has worked at FleishmanHillard since 1998, has been in his most recent role as global vice chairman of operations since 2010.
