CYPRESS, CA: Mitsubishi Motors North America has hired The Brand Amp as its PR AOR, supporting brand and product communications and the automaker’s media bureau and auto-show presence.
The Brand Amp is starting work on the account effective immediately. The firm, which won the business after a competitive review, will work closely with Mitsubishi’s in-house PR team, according to a company statement.
"We were seeking a partner who would provide smart, strategic thinking and insights, who are media savvy with creative and strong execution," said Don Swearingen, EVP of Mitsubishi Motors North America, in a statement.
Representatives from the car company were not available for comment. It was not immediately clear if the automaker had an incumbent PR agency.
The Brand Amp, based in Newport Beach, California, works with a number of sports, fitness, consumer electronics, and lifestyle brands, such as DirecTV, Vizio, TaylorMade Golf, Mophie, and Carhartt.
At the end of last month, Mitsubishi Motors said it plans to stop production at its only US plant. It will sell the Normal, Illinois, factory, which has more than 1,200 workers, to focus on production in Asian markets.
Mitsubishi Motors North America said last week that July was its 17th straight month of year-over-year sales growth.
