Turner, who is currently a board director with House PR, will take up his new role as senior director of comms across both brands in October.
In the newly created role, he will oversee all consumer and social PR activity for Channel 5 and MTV UK, reporting to Jo Bacon, VP, marketing and comms. Turner will also be responsible for corporate and internal comms for Channel 5, reporting to Matt Baker, VP, corporate comms for VIMN in the UK, Australia and Eastern Europe.
Bacon said: "Rich has a fantastic mix of client and agency experience with some of the biggest brands in broadcasting and he is joining us at an exciting time for both Channel 5 and MTV under Viacom’s ownership.
"Bringing the two brand teams together will give them both access to a wider pool of talent and resource and allow them to develop joint campaigns for shared content and share best practice across consumer and social PR."
Turner joined House PR in 2008 and has helped build the agency's TV and media division, representing clients including Discovery Networks, Turner Broadcasting, Channel 4 and Argonon.
Previously, he spent nine years at Sky TV, becoming head of programme publicity in 2004. He started his career as a publicist with Pearson TV.
