The pitch process is in its early stages and three agencies are already in the running.
However Jessica Anderson, who is handling the process, told PRWeek that Virgin Wines was still "open" to other agencies pitching for the work.
Anderson, PR and events manager at Virgin Wines, added: "The brief will be to raise our profile with consumers. We hope to have an agency in place by early autumn."
Consolidated Communications was hired by parent company Virgin to handle the launch of Virgin Wines in 2000.
The Virgin Wines brief follows an invitation for pitches by Virgin Trains and Virgin East Coast for a social media brief last week, while in March, Virgin Atlantic appointed Cake as its first retained consumer agency.
