According to The Guardian, Top Right Group’s majority owner Apax Partners is understood to be considering appointing bankers to look at possible exit routes for the business.
Apax owns a 77.1 per cent stake in Top Right Group, with the remainder held by Guardian Media Group. The two companies bought the business, which was spun out of Emap’s former professional publishing arm, in 2007 for around £1bn.
Top Right Group employs more than 1,800 full-time equivalent employees across 16 countries. Its assets include Lions Festivals, events business i2i Events, retail data business Planet Retail and political intelligence group DeHavilland.
Apax Partners and Top Right Group both declined to comment when approached by PRWeek.
The Cannes Lions has handed out awards for PR since 2009.
