British Property Federation names Ghislaine Halpenny as first comms director

The British Property Federation (BPF), the lobbying and membership body for the UK real estate industry, has appointed Ghislaine Halpenny as its first director of comms.

She was previously assistant director (planning and development) at the BPF. She has been at the organisation for six years, overseeing public affairs strategies for a number of issues affecting the real estate sector.

The BPF said Halpenny, who starts her role on 1 September, will work with the group’s executive team to deliver a comms strategy to build the profile of the real estate industry and promote its benefits to the Government and other groups.

She will continue to direct the organisation's planning policy work.

Although this is a new position, many of Halpenny's responsibilities replace those previously undertaken by Patrick Clift, who until May was head of comms and public affairs at the BPF and is now director of UK PR at BNP Paribas Real Estate.

Melanie Leech, CEO of the British Property Federation, said: "This appointment will allow the BPF to drive forward its communications strategy championing the real estate sector while also retaining Ghislaine’s policy expertise, which is sought after and valued by a wide range of the BPF’s members and stakeholders."

Halpenny said: "With a new Government in place and some exciting changes for the real estate industry on the horizon, now is the perfect time to champion and build the profile of the industry."
