LONDON: UBM has named its CFO, Robert Gray, as the new chief executive of PR Newswire, effective immediately.

Gray will succeed current CEO Ninan Chacko on August 1. Chacko is departing the role after six years to pursue other opportunities, the company said in a statement early Monday morning. Gray will step down as CFO and director of UBM at that time, but will remain a member of the parent company’s executive committee.

PR Newswire named Chacko as its CEO in February 2009 when previous chief executive Charles Gregson retired.

Gray joined UBM as CFO and director in 2009. Since then, UBM has transitioned into an events-led business, making 62 acquisitions and 32 disposals, the company said in a statement.

Gray also took on the additional role of acting CEO for a short time earlier this year when UBM chief executive Tim Cobbold was recovering from an operation.

Prior to joining UBM, Gray served as CFO for Codere. He has also worked at Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan.
