The four-storey store will be the anchor tenant in Leeds' Victoria Gate development, linked to the City's Victoria Quarter shopping arcade.
The brief will cover pre-opening, launch and post-opening phases, and will engage local and national media as well as community stakeholders.
The aim of the campaign, which will run for 18 months, is to drive footfall and increase consumer spend at the new branch.
John Lewis said agencies must show a thorough understanding of the city of Leeds and promote the £32m investment that John Lewis has placed in the development.
