AUSTIN, TX: The state of Texas is accepting proposals from tourism PR firms and trade relations representation services in continental Europe, as well as for a combined contract for the UK and Ireland.

The account is worth up to $700,000 for the European business, and $600,000 for the work in the UK and Ireland, according to solicitation documents. Each contract will run from September 1 of this year through August 31, 2017, with three annual options to renew and an additional six-month option.

The economic development and tourism department of the governor’s office is handling the search.

Marketing and PR initiatives on behalf of Texas would include consumer promotions and media relations. The successful bidder for the continental Europe contract must have an office in Germany ready to go no later than 30 days after the pact is awarded. The winner of the UK and Ireland contract must have an office in the UK, "with a preference for an office location in the Greater London Built-Up Area," according to contract documents.

Target markets include Germany as the "primary continental market service region," as well as France, the Netherlands, and "other European markets as directed" as secondary focus areas. The UK is the primary market for the other contract, according to the documents.

Bidders must submit proposals for the continental European account by July 17, and a week later for the UK and Ireland account.
