SAN FRANCISCO: Former Airfoil EVP David Bailey has joined Hotwire to head up its San Francisco office.
Bailey stepped into the position of EVP and GM of Hotwire’s San Francisco office, which has 10 staffers, earlier this month. Rebecca West, who previously held the role, has moved into a more flexible consulting role at the firm, so she can spend more time with her family, according to Hotwire’s group CEO Brendon Craigie.
Bailey reports to Craigie, who will relocate from London to New York next month in an effort to drive the firm’s growth across the US market.
"I will be focused on client consulting and client satisfaction for the office, and working across Silicon Valley as well as the region to drive growth," Bailey said. "There is a real opportunity for diversification of services for Hotwire clients, so I am looking forward to that as well."
September will mark Hotwire’s 15th anniversary. Craigie explained that the first decade of the firm’s business development objectives were focused on building a market leading pan-European offering for businesses in the tech and innovation sectors.
"Recently, we have been focused on growing our operation in the US, and this is why we hired [Bailey] specifically to strengthen our capability in San Francisco," he said.
Last month, Bailey departed his role at Airfoil, where he served as EVP and GM for Silicon Valley. He had worked at the firm since October 2013.
"We are not looking for a replacement for [Bailey]; his GM/EVP position has been eliminated," Airfoil CEO and president Lisa Vallee-Smith told PRWeek via email.
Airfoil recently hired Joe Kilmer as VP, leading Airfoil’s Sunnyvale, California, office. He is tasked with managing teams that are unique to the firm’s clients in the Bay Area, and he will also focus on business development.
Before he joined Airfoil, Bailey was SVP and GM at Text100 for nearly seven years. While there, he was tasked with management and client consulting, working with brands including Cisco, CoreSite, and BlackBerry.
Earlier in his career, he was director of corporate communications for Hewlett-Packard and director of marketing communications for Sun Microsystems.
Aside from Bailey’s appointment, Hotwire has also upped Rebecca Honeyman to the role of SVP and GM of its New York City office and Alex MacLaverty to the role of Europe’s group MD, effective immediately.
