SAN FRANCISCO: The Blueshirt Group has named former EVC Group senior MD Bob Jones as MD of its newly launched healthcare investor relations practice.

He joined the firm at the beginning of the month, based in New York.

Alex Wellins, MD at Blueshirt, said that "pent-up demand in the sector for investor relations expertise factored into [the firm’s] decision to add a healthcare vertical.

"Healthcare is the most active sector in terms of market activity. We see significant opportunities to leverage our capabilities that we’ve built in technology and into the healthcare sector," he said.

Wellins added that there is "crossover" between the healthcare and technology spaces in the case of brands such as Fitbit, which Blueshirt assisted with its IPO.

Services provided by the firm may vary depending on what stage each client is in in terms of going public. Yet Wellins said the firm views an IPO as "the starting line – the start of your life as a public company," noting that corporate priorities then begin to include things like investor questions and quarterly earnings.

"Our mission is to guide companies through that process," he said.

Wellins said he has known Jones since they were colleagues at Morgen-Walke Associates, where Jones was chief executive. Jones’ past roles have also included investor relations and financial communications consultant at RJ Associates and VP roles in investor relations and corporate communications at Monster Worldwide.

An EVC Group representative was not immediately available for comment.
