Edelman and Ketchum lead nominations for PR Lions as Cannes Lions gets under way

The shortlist for the PR categories at the Cannes Lions have been announced, with Edelman and Ketchum leading the pack in terms of nominations, but ad agencies still dominating overall.

Both agencies have six nominations across the 35 categories in the PR Lions, either as sole entries or joint submissions.

Other PR agencies to feature on the 200-strong strong list include Weber Shandwick (four), Ogilvy PR and Fuel Communications (three), MSLGroup (two), plus one each for Havas PR, Freuds, Porter Novelli, Golden Goose and Little Bird PR. Weber's Prime Stockholm was also shortlisted for its work for Electrolux. 

Golin has also been shortlisted for three campaigns, including for its 'Kenco coffee vs Gangs' in the PR category, as well as nominations in promo and activation and media categories.

FleishmanHillard is shortlisted three times in PR categories as well as once in Direct. One of its companies, Bluecurrent, is among those shortlisted in the PR group.

MSLGroup’s Always #LikeAGirl campaign for Procter & Gamble was a finalist in two categories: Integrated Campaign led by PR, and Brand Voice.

Olson Engage was shortlisted in the PR category having entered the Wake Up and Smell the Bacon campaign. Zeno Group also made the shortlist for the first time for its Jockey Mad Bum campaign.

PR agencies were also shortlisted in other Cannes discipline categories.
There were 1,969 entries in the PR Lions this year, up from 1,850 last year, 1,296 in 2013, and 1,130 in 2012.

In the Media Lions, Weber's Swedish subsidiary Prime was shortlisted in the Large Scale Use of Ambient Media category for Scandic Hotels.

Edelman in Los Angeles got a joint credit nomination in the Use of Social Platforms category, along with WPP media agency Mediacom in New York and Interpublic Group ad firm Deutsch in LA, for Ready, Set, Goooolf! for Volkswagen's Golf GTI brand.

Also in the Media Lions, FleishmanHillard in Detroit was shortlisted in the Cars and Automotive Services category alongside IPG ad agency Commonwealth//McCann in Detroit for GM's Chevrolet Technology & Stuff work.

In the Creative Effectiveness Lions, Ketchum's Atlanta office was jointly shortlisted for its work on Wendy's Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger Love Songs activation, alongside Kansas City-based digital and marketing agency VML.
