Switched On becomes first UK PR agency for US kitchen tech firm Drop

Brighton-based Switched On has become the first retained UK PR agency for Drop, the US-based kitchen tech company.

It follows a competitive pitch involving three agencies.

Switched On’s remit includes working with UK retailers to launch the product, along with a review programme and press office services.

Drop, which has offices in San Francisco and Dublin, provides a system that incorporates an app and a kitchen scale to help users make changes to recipes based on available ingredients.

Ben Harris, co-founder of Drop, said: "[Switched On] impressed with their understanding of our brand and what makes us tick, presenting a plan we believe will allow us to emulate the success Drop has seen in America."

Carl Steer, director of Switched On, said: "We’re planning a definitive launch moment working with Drop and their partners, matched with a solid media relations and reviews programme."

Switched On was launched earlier this year by former Hope&Glory senior consultant Steer and Lauren Libin, previously media director at House PR. Its founding client was VITL, a health supplement supplier.
