WASHINGTON: Alpaytac has named former Ogilvy Public Relations corporate and public affairs group SVP Rory Davenport as GM and director of public affairs in the nation’s capital, a new role.
He has held roles at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, FleishmanHillard, and Edelman.
"We’re building our firm essentially based on best practices collected over a long period of time," said Davenport, who added that he’s also factored in "what I believe is the way clients want to work with agencies."
Before his time at Ogilvy PR, Davenport was SVP and director of public affairs at Hill+Knowlton, as well as treasurer of the firm’s political action committee, HillPAC, according to a statement from Alpaytac. He also served in an SVP capacity at both FleishmanHillard and Edelman, working as director of grassroots and political programs at the latter, according to LinkedIn.
Alpaytac president and CEO Huma Gruaz said a goal is to "create a team that is really beyond the conventional Washington, DC, public affairs and PR team," noting its integrated and holistic nature.
Davenport has also worked as a political coordinator for the Florida Democratic Party and on Senate and presidential campaigns, according to the statement. He is reporting to Guraz.
Ellen Birek, SVP of business development for North America at Ogilvy PR, said the firm has not replaced Davenport.
