Nevada hires firms to promote the state in South Korea and UK

Nevada brought on South Korea-based Aviareps Marketing and Garden Holdings and UK-based Hills Balfour.

CARSON CITY, NV: The Nevada Division of Tourism has awarded contracts for international office sales and PR representation in South Korea and the UK to Aviareps Marketing and Garden Holdings and Hills Balfour, respectively.

Seoul, South Korea-based Aviareps specializes in tourism and aviation PR, with more than 50 offices worldwide, according to its website. Some of its clients include Singapore Airlines, Choice Hotels, and Marriott International.

Hills Balfour is a London-based firm that focuses on travel and tourism, according to the agency’s site. It counts NYC & Company, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, and the Arizona Office of Tourism among its roster of US clients.

Both of the Nevada contracts run from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017. Hills Balfour’s award is worth $300,000 and Aviareps’ comes in at $258,400, according to documents released earlier this week. Each contract has a two-year renewal option.

Representatives from Aviareps and Hills Balfour were not immediately available for comment.

In December, Nevada was competitively soliciting agency support for international office sales in South Korea, as well as Germany, which still under evaluation, along with Mexico.

Work will include boosting Nevada’s profile in certain areas worldwide with earned and social media, as well as "consumer-targeted events or publicity stunts." Other PR tasks include the creation of a media relations program and a monthly PR plan, as stated in the documents.

The South Korea representation RFP required fluency in English and Korean.

Representatives from Nevada Tourism declined to comment.
