First Utility appoints Hatch Communications to beef up Rugby Super League title sponsorship

Independent energy provider First Utility has enlisted Hatch Communications to create sports sponsorship campaigns following a non-competitive pitch.

First Utility is the Rugby Super League’s title sponsor for the second year running.

Hatch will use creative PR and experiential activity to interact with rugby fans and raise awareness of First Utility’s competitive energy tariffs.

Alec Stanwell, First Utility PR manager, said: "We saw an increase in fans saving money on their energy bills by joining First Utility last year, and we believe Hatch’s expertise and experience will help us engage with fans even more this season."

Hatch Communications director Matt Peden said: "Rugby League is a sport that’s ideal for fan engagement and we’re confident that our activity will resonate with these fans and deliver on First Utility’s objectives. This is a big year for the brand and we look forward to helping the company shift the needle on brand recall via creative sponsorship activation."

Bondy Consulting oversees First Utility’s daily press office, while Hatch is taking over its sponsorship PR.
