WASHINGTON: Sean Donahue, former principal at The Herald Group, has launched Context Strategies, a firm focused on integrated storytelling.
Donahue said one goal of the new firm is supporting clients’ objectives through storytelling, noting trends in the marketplace such as integration and "small data, or applying lenses and filters to everything we do" in an effort to give clients actionable insights.
The firm’s core areas are healthcare, energy, the environment, and technology, which Donahue called "the sectors driving the most societal change." More specifically, the agency will work with biopharma firms, renewable and conservation interests, and Internet-based companies, he added.
The agency will have a strategic partnership with The Herald Group, and Donahue said he plans to form strategic partnerships in New York and Austin, Texas, this year. He will remain a strategic counselor to the Herald Group.
"We’ll be sharing a number of clients where we’re able to provide mutual value," explained Donahue. "It’s a win-win, and as I was thinking through this, building out the model, and getting great thoughts on what’s missing in our industry, it was a no-brainer to develop our strategic partnership."
Before The Herald Group, Donahue was a member of the global public affairs team at Dell, public affairs director at The Glover Park Group, and technology and communications practice director at Dittus Communications. He was also national press aide on then-Sen. John Kerry’s (D-MA) 2004 presidential campaign, according to his LinkedIn account.
