PALO ALTO, CA: Outgoing Rogers & Cowan CEO Tom Tardio will join social software provider Socialtext as chairman of the board.
Tardio will step into the position in July. In the new role, he will work closely with staff including recently appointed SVP and GM Stephen Turner to grow Socialtext’s business, according to a company statement.
Tardio was not immediately available for comment.
Founded in 2002, Socialtext provides social networking products such as microblogging, blogs, wikis, profiles, and social spreadsheets. More than 6,500 companies worldwide use the software, including Getty Images, Symantec, Ogilvy & Mather, Hewlett-Packard, and Weight Watchers.
Tardio has worked at Rogers & Cowan for 27 years and has been the firm’s CEO since 1991. He has also served as president of global entertainment and sports marketing at fellow Interpublic Group agency Weber Shandwick, counseling brands such as Microsoft, Avon, Coca-Cola, Kraft, and BMW.
Prior to Rogers & Cowan, Tardio spent 10 years at Columbia Pictures Industries in the motion picture, TV, corporate finance, and operations divisions.
He also serves on the board of directors at talent management company PeopleFluent, which along with Socialtext is owned by private equity firm Bedford Funding.
