SAN DIEGO: The NFL’s San Diego Chargers have selected Lewis PR-owned digital agency Piston to oversee creative responsibilities for the 2015-2016 football season.
Piston, which was acquired by Lewis earlier this month, won the account following a competitive review. The San Diego-based firm is tasked with managing all creative services, including in-stadium signage, tickets, digital media, and a new TV spot that will air soon, said Obele Brown-West, Piston’s VP of account management.
She added that the Chargers worked with another creative agency prior to Piston, but she was unaware of further details regarding the incumbent.
Representatives from the Chargers were not immediately available for comment.
The agency will work with the team’s internal stakeholders, such as the PR and executive groups.
Brown-West declined to offer specifics on Piston’s campaign for the Chargers, but she said it will focus on rallying the city’s fans.
"San Diego is a very interesting market for a football team," she explained. "There are a lot of other distractions in San Diego, such as the beach and Sea World, so a lot of people say the Chargers have fair-weather fans. We’re hoping to address that myth."
The contract on the account will run throughout the 2015-2016 football season, but Brown-West said there are potential opportunities for Piston to continue working with the team once the games are over.
Budget information on the account was not disclosed.
