The Shoreditch-based agency has recruited Red Bull’s former head of marketing Huib Van Bockel to its advisory board.
Along with the PR function, 10x will focus on creating and developing products and services for clients, an approach used by consultancies such as AKQA, CODE and Theory and Made by Many.
During his four years at M&C Saatchi PR, Leith worked on ‘innovation-led’ marketing campaigns such as the world’s first smartwatch bank for Intelligent Environments, and an online game for Ocado that teaches school pupils how to code.
Leith said: "The world has changed. It’s never been easier, quicker and cheaper to create products and services.
"Thanks to the latest technology, low-cost programming, rapid prototyping, inexpensive hardware and a maker mindset, our in-house team can create remarkable digital and physical products easily.
"I’ve spent the past four years testing and refining this proposition and it’s clear there’s client demand for big, innovation-led ideas that differentiate brands and drive revenue."
The agency currently employs eight people, with a background in product design, software development, PR, plus digital and experiential functions.
10x’s first clients are expected to be announced shortly.
