Wheeldon-Doyle, who takes up his role in April, will spearhead the agency’s drive to break into new markets and report to global chief executive Molly Aldridge.
She said: "Gary brings a wealth of big brand and multiple market experience and his appointment forms part of our ambitious global growth strategy."
Wheeldon-Doyle was previously a senior director at Freuds for five years and, before that, spent seven years as a consultant director for Launch Group.
He said: "I look forward to the opportunity to deepen the footprint that M&C Saatchi PR has already made across international markets. A lot of agencies claim to have global presence but few have the genuine ability to deliver at a local level. The business is developing at a rapid rate and to be part of that growth at this stage is very exciting."
