He replaces current group MD Nicky Minter-Green, who will become agency chair after 16 years at the company.
TVC, which was acquired by the Economist Group in 2012, has offices in the UK, US and Paris. It launched a sports division in August last year, and won a pitch for the 2015 Marriott London Sevens, which it announced in January this year.
In his new role, Myers will oversee client experience, agency sales and marketing across the UK and USA offices. He will report to Paul Rossi, the New York-based president of Economist Group media businesses.
The restructure will also see the promotion of Sarah Harris from UK operations director to group operations director.
Myers said: "I’m looking forward to leading the business during an exciting time in our development. We have ambitious plans for investment over the coming year that should see us take the agency to the next level of growth."
Minter-Green said: "James is the perfect person to help drive TVC on its next exciting phase of growth, international expansion and product development. He is a world expert on content driven communications and I look forward supporting him in my new role as chair."
