Hill+Knowlton hired by oil and gas venture from GE Oil & Gas and McDermott

Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K) London has won a competitive pitch to represent IO Oil & Gas Consulting (IO), a new joint initiative from international energy equipment and services provider GE Oil & Gas and global engineering firm McDermott.

H+K is to handle PR and branding for the venture, a consultancy for the offshore oil and gas industry. The deal is understood to be worth six figures.

The agency will handle the company launch and develop an integrated comms plan.

The ongoing programme will include strategic brand counsel, b2b and external and internal comms activities including content development and management, media relations, managing social channels and building a new website. The work will be handled by a cross-agency team.

Simon Whitehead, MD, Energy + Industrials at H+K, said: "IO represents a bold and exciting new model in the energy industry and we’re excited about delivering a campaign that reflects this. Increasingly, H+K is working on fully integrated campaigns such as this that deliver real and tangible results for clients."

IO chief executive Dan Jackson said: "We wanted a disruptive launch into the offshore sector, and H+K has delivered that. With strong relationships in the offshore sector and an outstanding depth of knowledge in communications and branding, we are confident that it can now help us grow our profile, build customers and sales and attract new talent to the business."
