LOS ANGELES: Golden Boy Promotions, owned by retired professional boxer Oscar De La Hoya, has brought on Mercury to handle all PR for the company.

Prior to being named AOR, Mercury supported Golden Boy for the past six months, according to a statement from the firm.

The agency has focused on spreading "the word that Golden Boy’s focus is now squarely on putting on the best fights for fans," said De La Hoya, in a statement. "We look forward to working closely with Mercury in 2015 and beyond."

Stefan Friedman, MD at Mercury, is leading account work from the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Representatives from Mercury and Golden Boy were not immediately available for comment.

Golden Boy Promotions, founded in 2002 by De La Hoya, presents boxing matches across the US on networks including HBO, Showtime, Fox Sports 1, and Fox Deportes, according to the company’s website.
