Smiddy joined the agency from Porter Novelli’s health practice in November last year, after Tonic Life founders Scott Clark and Oliver Parsons quit after failing to reach terms about their future involvement with the business.

The new additions include Ainsley Cooper who joins as a director, having spent six years at Hill+Knowlton Strategies as associate director. She has experience across consumer, ethical and private healthcare and has led on several global digital projects.

Elisabeth Neal, former director at Burson-Marsteller, joins as associate director. She has worked with a number of leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies.

Finally, Alex Davies is joining as an account director. Davies previously worked at the BBC, AstraZeneca and the Royal College of Nursing and has experience in digital and corporate comms, media management and public affairs.

Smiddy said: "Our new hires bring award-winning, cutting-edge experience of health communications and an impressive flair for the world of digital. This experience in particular builds on our already impressive digital offering and ensures Tonic Life Communicators will continue to lead where others follow."

The new hires will be based in the new Huntsworth Health offices in St James’s Park, which Tonic Life Communications Europe shares with sister consultancies ApotheCom and Nitrogen.
