Jack Whitehall and Pixie Lott back Age UK campaign #NotByMySelfie

Comedian Jack Whitehall and singer Pixie Lott are among the celebrities supporting Age UK's new #NotByMySelfie social media campaign, which encourages people to share pictures of themselves with their grandparent or other older person who is special to them.

3 Monkeys Communications has supported the campaign with celebrity engagement and media relations.

Age UK is urging people to share a selfie of themselves with an older relative or loved one on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #NotByMySelfie. People are also asked to donate £3 by texting "HELLO" to 70004.

Other celebrities to take part include comedian Julian Clary, Mr Selfridge actress Katherine Kelly, The Only Way is Essex star Lydia Bright, Hobbit actor Luke Evans, Camilla Dallerup of Strictly Come Dancing, Game of Thrones actress Laura Pradelska and actress and designer Donna Air.

The initiative is part of Age UK’s 'No one should have no one' integrated marketing campaign that highlights the problem of older people having no one to turn to.

Marianne Hewitt, head of brand at Age UK, said: "Through our #NotByMySelfie we want to connect with the public in a fun and creative way to help raise awareness of the fact that so many older people are facing later life alone. We’re already seeing celebrities and the public getting involved and hope it will continue to inspire people of all ages to show their support by this simple action."
