Hill+Knowlton boosts tech team with Waggener Edstrom's Chris Gibbs

Hill+Knowlton Strategies has hired Chris Gibbs from Waggener Edstrom (WE) as an associate director in its technology arm as the group builds the division under the leadership of Charlie Morgan.

Gibbs was at WE for almost four years and before this spent five years at Weber Shandwick, working across consumer tech, IT and telecoms for brands including Microsoft, Toshiba, Hitachi, Philips, Adobe and Alcatel One Touch.

He is one of four recent hires under Charlie Morgan, the agency’s newly appointed head of technology.

Morgan said: "Chris is an excellent communications practitioner and his extensive experience and knowledge of the technology sector will enable him to provide invaluable strategic counsel to our clients."

Gibbs added: "It’s a great team and an enviable portfolio of clients, and I’m genuinely excited by H+K’s approach to PR, combining traditional media and influencer relations with a content and publishing-led approach."

Other recent appointments in the technology team include account managers Rachel Magson, Neil Thomas and Joe McNamara.

Magson joins from Nelson Bostock where she managed the reactive and proactive press offices for EE. Thomas was previously at Six Degrees where he specialised in b2b technology PR, working for clients including Vodafone and Exact.

McNamara joins from Wildfire where he oversaw comms for a range of clients including data centre and cloud providers, microelectronics companies and broadband providers.
