Fixter, formerly an account director at Bell Pottinger, has 12 years' experience in media relations, b2b, crisis management and stakeholder relations. She has worked with firms including Iglo Group/Birds Eye and Paramount Group, the defence company.
Fixter also held a number of government comms roles in Australia including head of comms for Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and media and policy adviser to the minister for environment, climate change and water in the government of New South Wales.
The appointment follows the move last March by New York-based Burson-Marsteller to combine its UK corporate and brand comms teams, due to the "continued blurring of marketing disciplines and clients embracing a much more integrated approach to communications".
George Godsal, MD and chair of the corporate and brand comms practice at Burson-Marsteller, said: "Ruci's skills have been honed working on accounts across a wide range of market sectors and geographies, and her talent and experience will be of great benefit to our growing and diverse client roster."
Fixter said: "Burson-Marsteller is one of the most established communication firms in the world, so it’s incredibly exciting to be joining such a highly regarded organisation. I’m looking forward to applying my international expertise to the corporate and brand division and helping further build this practice area."
