WASHINGTON: Havas Group has acquired Freiburg, Germany-based integrated healthcare specialist firm Bird & Schulte Advertising, the holding company said Tuesday.

It plans to rename the shop Havas Life Bird & Schulte and place it within the Havas Health Network.

Founders Jeremy Bird and Dr. Monika Schulte will continue to lead the firm, which specializes in work with prescription and over-the-counter clients, as managing directors.

Joining Havas’ health-focused group will allow Bird & Schulte to serve "additional clients and markets while meeting the evolving health and wellness landscape with an even more complete full-service unified offering, from marketing to medical education, PR, and market access focusing on professionals and patients," Havas said in a statement.

Bird said the deal will make his firm "much more global" and help it improve its services.

"After a point, you begin to see that as a national independently owned agency, you can sometimes not get into a market as you’d like to," he explained, adding that client response has been positive.

Financial terms of the deal were not immediately available.

Last month, Havas bought Formula PR and renamed it Havas Formula. It placed the PR firm alongside other shops in its creative group such as Havas Impact, Havas Edge, Havas Luxe, Havas PR, and Havas Latino Group. Havas also obtained Formula Street, its brand-activation arm, and PR division Formulatin.

Formula founder and president Michael Olguin is continuing to lead the agency, reporting to Andrew Bennett, CEO of Havas Worldwide and the Havas Creative Group.
