NEW YORK: Voya Financial has hired Paul Gennaro as CCO and SVP of corporate communications.
Reporting to Voya chairman and CEO Rodney Martin, Gennaro will be responsible for overseeing all internal and external communications for the company. He will also strategically advise senior management, set overall communications strategy, and define and protect Voya’s reputation with key stakeholders.
Gennaro’s first day at Voya was Monday. He has three direct reports and oversees a team of 13.

Gennaro was most recently SVP for corporate communications and CCO of global support services firm AECOM. He began working there in March 2006, leading all aspects of the firm’s global corporate communications, brand optimization, and reputation management strategies. During his time at the company, he developed comms strategies for more than 40 acquisitions, its IPO, and its global rebrand, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Previously, he served as director of corporate communications and global marketing communications for Johns Manville, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. Gennaro was also director of communications for Ingersoll-Rand, senior manager of communications at Dell, and director of corporate affairs and communications for American Express.
Paul Dickard, VP of corporate and external communications at AECOM, is taking over Gennaro’s duties as interim CCO.

Gennaro was recognized on PRWeek’s Power List numerous times, ranked at number 37 last year and number 30 in 2013. He was also a finalist for PR Professional of the Year at the 2012 PRWeek Awards and won the award the following year.
Gennaro is also a board member at Ethisphere and chairman of the communications advisory board at the Ethisphere Institute, according to his LinkedIn profile.
