Edelman Indonesia has appointed Julien Courant as managing director of its consumer marketing and digital practices, saying that the hire reflects Edelman’s evolution toward communications marketing as more clients demand combined creative, social and digital services in addition to the company’s core services in PR and public affairs.
Courant was previously managing director of OgilvyOne Worldwide Indonesia, where he led digital advertising and brand engagement work. He reports to Edelman Indonesia CEO Stephen Lock.
"The Indonesian market is growing rapidly and is becoming more sophisticated," Lock said in a press release. "It is not just about combining earned media with social and digital. We are increasingly using paid media as rocket fuel for earned."
Courant will help the agency deliver a practice that is platform- and discipline-neutral, Lock added.
"Edelman Indonesia is the first PR agency in Indonesia to truly move in this direction, whereas most agencies in the country still operate in silos," Courant said in the release. "Consumer engagement needs to be viewed through a comprehensive brand vision, and not through narrow silos of single channel implementation."
