Craig Crawford joins Webb Exploratory Committee; AH Belo takes majority stakes in marketing shops; GSG names Hansen VP.

WASHINGTON: The Jim Webb Exploratory Committee has hired Craig Crawford as its communications director. During his career as a journalist, Crawford worked for CBS News, MSNBC, and Congressional Quarterly. He has also worked for various presidential campaigns.  

DALLAS: AH Belo, the owner of The Dallas Morning News, has taken majority ownership stakes in Dallas-based marketing companies Distribution, MarketingFX, and Vertical Nerve. All three are run by entrepreneur Tim Storer. They will be a part of the company’s new DMV Digital Holdings group, according to the Morning News.

NEW YORK: Garnesha Crawford, former communications director and spokeswoman for New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, is joining Bloomberg Philanthropies in New York. Crawford previously worked for the deputy mayor of operations and the mayor’s innovation delivery team in New Orleans, according to

WASHINGTON: Global Strategy Group has hired Kate Hansen as VP of communications, based in Washington, DC. She previously worked at advocacy organization and for the Democratic Governor’s Association, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-CT).

TULSA, OK: Arby’s franchisee US Beef has promoted Fred Fleischner to VP of corporate communications. He joined the organization in 2010 as senior director of marketing after serving as VP of marketing and corporate communications at Dollar Thrifty Automotive.
