CHICAGO: Eric Eatherly, a VP at Chicago performing arts specialist boutique The Silverman Group, died early Monday after a car accident during a holiday visit. He was 35 years old.
Eatherly was killed in a crash in Alcoa, Tennessee, before 7 am on Monday morning. His father was also critically injured in the accident, according to The Chattanoogan.
The Northwestern University graduate was the firm’s primary publicist for the Joffrey Ballet and also worked on accounts such as the Chicago Dancing Festival, the Lyric Opera, and the Chicago Sinfonietta, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Before joining Silverman Group in 2008, Eatherly was a professional dancer at modern dance troupe Hedwig Dances for six years and was a member of the Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre, according to his agency biography. He was also a dance writer at the Windy City Times from 2007 to 2008, according to his LinkedIn account. Eatherly graduated from Northwestern University in 2001.
A celebration of Eatherly’s life is planned for January 17 at the Joffrey Tower in Chicago from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Silverman Group tweeted on Tuesday that in lieu of flowers, Eatherly’s partner and family have requested donations be made to Human Rights Campaign or the Joffrey Ballet Academy of Dance.
