NEW YORK: Citigroup SVP Jennifer Hendricks Sullivan has joined AIG as director of media relations and financial communications.
Reporting to global head of media relations Jon Diat, Hendricks Sullivan has filled a role that has been vacant since James Ankner moved from his position of director of external communications to become head of internal comms at AIG last year.
"We never really replaced [Ankner], so [Hendricks Sullivan] now fills that gap in a sense," Diat told PRWeek, via email.
Hendricks Sullivan is tasked with developing and implementing external communications strategies for AIG. In addition, she will act as a corporate spokesperson and handle day-to-day media inquiries, working closely with colleagues across its business and functional areas to ensure the company provides appropriate and accurate information and responses to the media quickly.
She will also work on financial communications, including oversight of the quarterly earnings press release process, partnering closely with IR, finance, legal, and AIG’s businesses. Hendricks Sullivan’s role also encompasses close collaboration with AIG’s business and regional communications teams, including internal communications, digital communications, marketing, sponsorships, social media, and CSR, according to an internal memo from Diat obtained by PRWeek.
Hendricks Sullivan has joined AIG from Citigroup, where she served as SVP in the company’s IR department since 2009.
A representative from Citigroup said the company has not replaced her in the role. Hendricks Sullivan initially joined the financial institution in 2006 as an investment banking analyst. Earlier in her career, she was a junior associate at Sard Verbinnen.
Hendricks Sullivan was not immediately available for comment.
AIG has also appointed Rhodri Williams to the newly created role of VP of communications and public affairs for EMEA. He steps into the role in January.
