Four more agencies sign up to PR Internships For All initiative

Waggener Edstrom, Newgate Communications, Siren Communications and Inkling are the latest agencies to sign up to PR Internships For All, a scheme from PRWeek and the PRCA to boost diversity in the industry.

PR Internships For All aims to increase diversity in the industry and ensure that all interns are paid the national minimum wage.

University of London is the latest partner university to sign up, bringing the total up to 24 agencies and 14 partner universities (listed below) that have now joined the campaign.

The scheme launched in April, with support from pressure campaign Intern Aware and the Taylor Bennett Foundation, which was set up in 2008 to encourage diversity in PR.

All participating agencies must hire a set number of paid interns from universities outside the Russell Group. All interns must be hired for at least a month and be paid at least the national minimum wage.
The campaign will run until May 2015, after which the PRCA will hold an awards ceremony to celebrate the best of the consultancies, in-house teams and interns taking part in the scheme.

Organisations will be able to take part by hiring trainees from the Taylor Bennett Foundation trainee programme.
