The role was previously shared by Madano founders Andy Eymond and Matthew Moth, who will continue with their other responsibilities.
Evans joined the London-based consultancy as a partner in 2008. Before that, he was principal private secretary to the UK Government’s chief scientific adviser for five years.
Evans said: "This is a hugely exciting time for the business and we’ve got a fantastic team in place to continue to deliver work of the highest quality for our clients."
In 2013, Madano became part of National Public Relations, which also owns Axon Communications and Sonic Boom. Evans will report to Ralph Sutton, National’s international managing partner.
Sutton said: "Michael’s passion for the highest quality of client service is clear for all to see. In addition to Michael, we have an outstanding management team at Madano including the founding partners Andy Eymond and Matthew Moth who will continue to focus on business development."
