WASHINGTON: Purple Strategies has hired John Mercurio, former senior director of public affairs at Burson-Marsteller, as MD.
Before working at Burson, Mercurio was executive editor and head of editorial staff at The Hotline in Washington and political editor at CNN. He also wrote a daily column at CNN, The Morning Grind, and held positions at Roll Call, The Washington Times, and The Journal Newspapers.
Purple Strategies also hired Cynthia Case, who spent 18 years at The World Bank Group, as a broadcast news officer and media relations consultant. Her political experience includes working for the Dukakis for President campaign and congressional races, according to a statement from the firm.
Both Mercurio and Case will report to Mike Lake, PR division lead.
