Verisign on the hunt for PR agency partner

Verisign has worked with Weber Shandwick and Text100.

RESTON, VA: Tech company Verisign, which manages Web domain names, is in the middle of a review for a PR agency.

Additional information about the search process was not disclosed. Verisign corporate communications director Deana Alvy said the company is "not commenting on the RFP at this time."

In 2007, Verisign brought on Weber Shandwick to serve as its global PR agency partner and increase its branding efforts worldwide. It was not immediately clear if Weber is still working with Verisign.

In 2012, Verisign hired Text100 as its PR agency partner in EMEA.

The company reported a year-over-year revenue increase of 4.7% to $255 million during the third quarter of 2014, slightly exceeding analyst expectations. Verisign also added 1.15 million new net names to the .com and .net registry in Q3, finishing the period with 130 million active domains.

Last week, Verisign joined the AllSeen Alliance, a collaborative nonprofit group aimed at advancing the Internet of Things, an expanding network of Web-enabled devices that automatically communicate without human intervention.

Founded in 1995, Verisign employs about 1,100 staffers across offices in Delaware, California, Switzerland, India, England, and Australia, according to its website.
