Branney starts in the role this week, managing external communications for the car products, working closely with the automotive specialist media as well as pushing the coverage into consumer, lifestyle and broadcast arenas.
He will report to corporate affairs manager, Karen Parry, who joined the company in July.
The position was previously held by Ellie Ostinelli, who is currently on maternity leave.
Branney was previously an account director at Nobull Communications, where he ran the motoring side of the business, with clients including Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions and Volvo.
He has also worked with Twitter, Currys PC World, the London and Southampton Boat Shows, and the Get Ahead of the Games campaign warning people about the impact of the London 2012 Olympics on travel arrangements.
Head of corporate affairs at Honda UK, Rebecca Stead said: "Honda has ambitious plans for 2015 as we look to return the brand to the glory days.
"We are delighted to have Simon on board, making use of his skills, experience and energy to maximise the opportunity we have ahead of us to ensure people understand the brand once more and get people back in to a Honda car."
