NEW YORK: DeVries Global has appointed Heidi Hovland, previously deputy GM of FleishmanHillard New York, as its CEO.
In the global role, Hovland will work to enhance creative services across the firm’s offices in the US, UK, China, Singapore, and India. Based out of DeVries’ New York headquarters, she is the fourth chief executive in the firm’s 36-year history.
Prior to Hovland taking the helm, chairman Jim Allman served as interim CEO since the departure of North America chief executive Stephanie Smirnov last summer.
Earlier this year, Allman told PRWeek that the firm was taking its time finding a new leader "because it’s such a fascinating and challenging moment for our industry."
He added at the time, "We just want to get the right person."
Representatives from DeVries were not immediately available for comment.
In Hovland’s most recent role at Fleishman, she oversaw the global consumer products sector and cofounded the firm’s Marketing to Moms practice group. During her 18 years at the Omnicom Group firm, Hovland worked with a wide range of clients, such as Chobani, Samsung, CitiBank, Carnival Cruise Lines, Hyatt, and PepsiCo.
Prior to Fleishman, Hovland worked at Manning Selvage & Lee for two years, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Fleishman representatives were not immediately available for comment about Hovland’s departure.
