He will focus on media strategies, public affairs and TV, radio and digital content.

Sergeant is a Cambridge economics graduate and worked at Reuters and Sky News earlier in his 17-year journalism career, of which he has spent the past 13 years at the BBC.
He reported on the 2004 tsunami from Thailand, was at the UN in New York during the 2006 Lebanon crisis, and had several tours of duty in Baghdad during the peak of the violence in 2007 and 2008.

He was also the BBC’s main correspondent on Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg’s battle-bus during the 2010 campaign.

Headland CEO Chris Salt said: "The great thing about Mike is he’s a multi-specialist, and our clients can benefit from his broadcast, political and news content experience. We think he’ll make an excellent senior communications consultant and he’ll sit right at the heart of our business."
