Amanda Kamin is to join from Visa Europe, where she has been head of policy and issues management. Charlie Howard will arrive from Fishburn, where he is currently associate director and head of its crisis management team.
The appointments follow the move in March by New York-based Burson-Marsteller to combine its UK corporate and brand comms teams, due to the "continued blurring of marketing disciplines and clients embracing a much more integrated approach to communications".
Kamin has experience in technology comms and financial services PR campaigns. She previously worked in-house at Motorola and was account director at MS&L, as well as working at Burson-Marsteller early in her career.
Howard currently heads campaigns across a range of specialisms including digital strategy, media relations and global corporate reputation. He has previously worked for Hill+Knowlton Strategies, College Hill and Buchanan Communications.
George Godsal, managing director and chair of the Corporate & Brand Communications practice at Burson-Marsteller, said: "We’ve had a very good year working with a growing number of clients in the corporate and brand space. Amanda and Charlie bring with them extensive experience that will be an immediate asset to our broad client base, and a significant fillip to our growing team."
Kamin said: "It’s very exciting to have come full circle and to be in the position of my early mentors. My time in-house has been full of opportunity and I look forward to bringing that experience to my new clients and dynamic team."
Howard said: "Burson-Marsteller is an agency I’ve admired for a long time, particularly for its extensive experience in crisis and issues management. Businesses have never been more in the spotlight from media and stakeholders, making this a critical time for them to pay attention to their corporate reputation, so I’m looking forward to bringing my own experience from a wide range of issues-led client work to the team."
