Council of PR Firms picks new name, logo

The Council of Public Relations Firms has a new nickname: the PR Council.

NEW YORK: The Council of Public Relations Firms has adopted a new shorthand name – the PR Council – as well as a new logo.

The group said on a Q&A section on its website that it has "frequently been referred to as the PR Council by members and non-members."

"With input from the research findings, we’ve decided to put PR front-and-center – a fact also reflected in the new logo," the group wrote on PRFirms.org. "While many of our members wrestle with whether or not to call themselves a PR agency, the core of their work still fundamentally comes from the ‘relationships with the publics’ perspective."

Last week, the group named Christopher Graves, chairman of Ogilvy Public Relations, as its next chair. Greentarget founding partner Aaron Schoenherr was named secretary, and Taylor COO and managing partner Bryan Harris was elected treasurer.
