MIAMI: Luis Gallardo, former chair of the EMEA brand marketing practice at Burson-Marsteller, has joined Thinking Heads Americas as CEO as the firm expands in the US and Latin America.

Gallardo started the role on October 1 and also joined the firm’s board of directors. He has moved to Miami for the position, which is newly created. Overseeing 70 staffers, he is tasked with partnerships, overall strategy, and business development to help Thinking Heads grow in the US and Latin America.

Founded in 2002 in Madrid, Spain, Thinking Heads provides services including thought leadership, speaker representation and promotion, content development, and brand strategy. Daniel Romero-Abreu, president and founder of Thinking Heads, previously managed Gallardo’s responsibilities.

"Our goal is to become the number one thought leadership hub in the world," Gallardo told PRWeek. "I see a real opportunity [at Thinking Heads] for building personal brands – something that is absolutely complementary and links with corporate branding."

In September, Gallardo stepped down as chair of Burson-Marsteller’s EMEA consumer and brand marketing practice, a role he held since 2012. For the past two years he also served as director of global strategy at BAV Consulting, another company in the Young & Rubicam Group.

A representative from Burson was not immediately available for comment.

Previously, Gallardo was global CMO at Deloitte from 2004 to 2012, overseeing the company’s brand, marketing, and comms strategy in more than 150 countries. He also worked as director of communications and corporate reputation at Deloitte Spain for over a decade.
