Former aide to Maurice Greenberg joins MWW as corp comms MD

MWW has tapped Arthur Schwartz as an SVP and MD in its corporate comms group.

NEW YORK: MWW has appointed Arthur Schwartz as SVP and MD in the firm’s corporate communications practice, the agency said Thursday morning.

Based in the shop’s New York office, Schwartz will lead consulting and communications, government affairs, crisis management, and litigation strategy for MWW’s corporate accounts, the firm said in a statement.

Representatives from MWW were not immediately available for comment.

Before joining MWW, Schwartz worked at CV Starr & Co., where he served as a strategic adviser to CEO and chairman Maurice Greenberg. In that role, he counseled the former AIG CEO on strategic communications, political efforts, government affairs, lobbying, and crisis management.

Schwartz has also counseled Republicans at both the state and federal levels, according to MWW’s statement.

His role at the firm is newly created, and Schwartz is reporting to both CEO Michael Kempner and corporate communications EVP Carreen Winters.

Earlier this week, MWW hired Ayofemi Kirby as an account supervisor in its corporate communications practice. He previously served as communications director for the Congressional Black Caucus.

Fifteen-year MWW veteran Joe Cohen recently departed the firm to join Kind Healthy Snacks as SVP of communications.

This story was updated on October 16 with more information about Schwartz's role.
