The first film’s cult following has prompted the producers to open up the remaining eight per cent funding needed for the film to crowd-sourcing website Kickstarter.
Filming is due to start in early 2015 and will see Ricky Tomlinson revive his role as Mike Bassett with Amanda Redman returning as his long-suffering spouse Karine.
Camden-based Frank PR will design a launch for the film, while fans will be invited to fund the film in exchange for scalable gifts and rewards.
Andrew Bloch, group managing director and founder of Frank PR, said: "We're absolutely delighted to announce our latest signing, not least because we're an agency full of Mike Bassett fanatics. At the end of the day, we can't wait to give 110 per cent for the gaffer and we're fully fit and raring to go.
"The Kickstarter element is especially exciting. To be part of a film that can genuinely claim to be for the fans, by the fans, is a fantastic perk."
Frank PR was appointed by co-producers Fulwell 73, the team behind 'Class of '92' and 'One Direction: This Is Us'.
Leo Pearlman, partner at Fulwell 73, added: "We're approaching this film in an untraditional manner, so it made sense to go with an agency that looks at things differently."
