NEW YORK: Golin-owned healthcare communications agency Virgo Health has launched a US PR practice, based in New York.
The firm, which was acquired by Golin in 2012, appointed Nancy Caravetta to run the New York office.
Virgo’s US arm will focus on pharmaceutical clients based in the country, Caravetta said. Co-CEOs Angie Wiles and Sarah Matthew, who founded the agency in 2003, saw the US market as a key area for growth, Caravetta explained.
"They knew the market, and they’ve long known many global communications programs are run out of the US," she said.
Caravetta will work with teams based in the US and London. The US group will focus on client strategy and campaign development, while the London team will work on program execution, she said.
Caravetta has more than 23 years’ experience in healthcare communications with global health brands, most recently as an EVP at Lippe Taylor, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Since joining the Golin network, Virgo launched a US medical education division in January 2013. The division has added clients including Merck’s respiratory portfolio and brands under a diabetes alliance between Boehringer Ingelheim and Eli Lilly and Company, according to a release.
The firm’s partnership with Golin allows Virgo clients to access offices in 50 markets and "opens a whole new swath of business," Caravetta said. Since the acquisition Virgo and Golin also launched a global digital health practice called Go Digital Health.
