Odeon is working with agency intermediary Creativebrief to produce a list of contenders for the retained work, which is understood to fall well into six-figure budget territory.

The company’s UK & Ireland commercial director Andy Edge is working with its interim group head of comms Simon Soffe on the process, which is expected to lead to an appointment in mid- to late November.

Odeon has 124 cinemas in the UK and Ireland and is the second biggest player in the market after Cineworld in terms of tickets sold.

Edge told PRWeek the company is searching for an agency that can provide a high degree of creative cut-through for its marketing initiatives and is capable and willing to become a key part of its team.

The Red Consultancy is not repitching for the work, according to its planning director Ed Staples, bringing an end to a relationship that goes back to 1997.

"We’re proud of the work we’ve done over the years and we wish Odeon well," Staples said.
