Kumi Sato took over the reins of COSMO in 1987 and gave the company an international focus. Today the vast majority of its clients are international.
Sato has been recognized numerous times for her leadership in business. She has won a number of awards including the "Business Stateswoman of the Year" by Harvard Business School Club of Japan in 2011. Sato is an active member of several committees and boards in Japan. She served as Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce (ACCJ) in Japan from 2011–2012, and is also the Vice-Chair of the ACCJ’s Labor Diversification Task Force. She is also the Co-Chair of the Global Council for the New York-based Asia Society.
Founded in 1960, COSMO is considered one of Japan’s most innovative and creative strategic communications consultancies.
