Talina Evans, from Caernarfon, North Wales, bought the doll for her seven-year-old daughter and was shocked when she heard the doll say: "What the f**k?"

Evans told the Daily Mirror: "I heard it loud and clear. We’ve taken it off her now. She was disappointed but she understood that it was wrong to swear. It’s very irresponsible of the toy company."

The doll, which is based on the web reality series ‘Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse’, speaks 15 phrases from the show including "Amaze", "To the Salon" and "Off the Hook".

In a statement Mattel said: "It has been brought to our attention that there is some confusion over one of the pre-recorded phrases from the Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse Feature Talkin’ Barbie Doll. One of the 15 pre-recorded phrases is ‘Off the Hook’ – this is a common expression used by the characters in the animated reality web series Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse. While the phrase may be heard differently by some who are not familiar with the show, all of Mattel’s products are created for both children and parents to enjoy and trust".
